Dance And Be Fit proves that exercise can be fun! Owner Roland Ford pairs easy to follow moves with authentic encouragement and upbeat music that will make anyone want to get up and move. Roland, often called Pittsburgh’s “soul line dance king,” loves bringing dance to people of all ages and abilities. Leading line dances started off as a hobby for Roland, but by working with Urban Innovation21 and his many partners in the region, he’s built it into a business.
“Dance And Be Fit has given me the opportunity to be able to share what I love, and enjoy it with other people.” - Roland Ford
Roland and his team are always looking for new ways to get people moving. With the help of a Kiva small business loan, they recently added a membership plan to the Dance And Be Fit website. Members can access streaming videos and receive a DVD in the mail so they can enjoy workouts in their home, office, or even while traveling!
As always, Roland continues to create and lead dances for schools, special needs groups, senior programs, and special events like weddings and fashion shows. Dance And Be Fit is constantly working to reach more individuals and inspire them to improve their lifestyle. In 2018, they plan to expand local programming and incorporate a train-the-trainer model so that Dance And Be Fit workouts can positively impact even more people.
Urban Innovation21 is proud to have Roland as a Business Plan Grant Competition winner, Kiva loan recipient, speaker on our 2017 Healthy Business Healthy Entrepreneur panel, and community partner.
